How many euro pallets fit in a 20ft container?

A 20ft standard container holds 11 euro pallets floor-loaded (120×80 cm, one tier). With stackable goods accordingly more, limited by height and permitted weight.

In short

The internal length of a 20ft standard container is about 590 cm, the internal width about 235 cm. For euro pallets (120×80 cm) that works out to 11 floor positions in one tier.

How the 11 are placed — calculated, not copied

The 11 only work because of turning: 7 pallets sit crosswise, 4 lengthwise. Keep them all in one orientation and only 8 fit on the floor. This is the layout from above:

Stacked: two tiers with low cargo

If each pallet including goods stays below about 115 cm, stackable cargo fits in two tiers: 22 euro pallets in a 20ft container (internal height 239 cm). Whether the goods can carry a second tier is up to the cargo — weight is rarely the limit with euro pallets: 22 pallets at 300 kg are 6.6 t of roughly 28 t payload.
